When I started my own postpartum journey after having my first baby, I found most postpartum fitness spaces to be impersonal and heavily focused on aesthetic or weight loss goals. As a new mom, I wanted to start exercising again, but I was tired of being pressured into losing weight and "returning to my pre-baby body". Why was everyone so set on telling me how my body needed to look after having a baby?
So, I decided to get my personal training certificate with a specialization in perinatal bodies and create what I saw was missing.
When I created Reclaim Fitness, I had this program in mind. The lack of support for postpartum bodies is glaringly evident within our society. Even within our healthcare system, there is little education or long-term support available to people in the perinatal space. I wanted to create a program that empowered birthing bodies through informative workshops, a supportive community and a practical example of what "fitness" can be within the postpartum space.
After our 6 week postpartum appointment, we often get little support or guidance on how to return to exercise. Even though we are "cleared" for exercise, we may not feel "ready" for exercise.
Reconnect to your body with 15-20 minute workouts that are realistic for your busy schedule and where you are physically right now.
Find relief for back pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic pain, core dysfunction and other common postpartum pain points or get support finding the help you need.
Reconnect with other caregivers/parents/birthing bodies in a private group off social media where you can find accountability, community and connection.
Rethink what your body may actually need as a caregiver- realistic exercise that leads to functional movement.
No weight loss for the sake of weight loss.
No more 30 day challenges or "lifestyle changes" that leave you without a realistic plan to continue once they finish.
